Things to do and see nearby

St. Martin of Tours

There has been a church in Detling since Saxon times, although the current building is more recent with its Norman origins clearly visible.

The church plays a big part in the village community, and draws financial support from the Friends of Detling Church.

North Downs Way

If you like walking, then the North Downs Way will be right up your street. From Wealden Hall, turn left and just past the Cricket Club, there is a footpath that will take you to the top of the escarpment, where the views over the weald of Kent are amazing.

You will also find White Horse Wood, and a bit further on, the ruins of Thurnham Castle. The viewpoint shown above provides information about what you are looking at.

Of course, you could just stay in our back garden and enjoy stunning views, watch the pigs or relax in the pool

Sightseeing and further afield

Historic Rochester

Rochester, with its impressive castle and cathedral, is just a short drive away. The city has a long association with Dickens and there are frequent themed events.

The high street is full of antique shops and art galleries so there is plenty for the dedicated shopper to enjoy.
